The only Charleston radio station that mattered is no more. It has be replaced by "The New Upchuck FM".
96 Wave you will be missed.

Dave Rossi is an idiot! First he gets rid of the local morning show and replaces it with a national show, now he replaces great music with a grab bag of crap. Way to go Dave. I guess I finally have an excuse to buy an iPod.
I am so upset about not having a radio station any more. I tried to scan to find something to listen to this morning and it was all crap. How dare them do this to all the loyal listeners. The new 96.1 is off my programmed stations now.
Dave Rossi hasn't worked for Apex Broadcasting since January and had nothing to do with last week's events. Wanna complain about someone? Complain about Chris Johnson (the GM)...he pulled the trigger.
What a stupid decision...this new format has failed in EVERY market it is in...like in all the other markets the mistake will be realized later on and they will switch back to the old format, but by then we will be listening to satellite radio!
Actually, the format has had mixed success. It is very successful out west and in scattered smaller markets. It definitely failed miserably, however, in New York, and they brought back the oldies station that the format took over in the first place. So, time will tell, I suppose. Maybe they'll bring back the Wave on a different frequency - there's rumors of a frequency shuffle going on and it could show up on 101.7...
I'm just glad I have an MP3 player, b/c everything else around here SUCKS! I've been trying 95 and 98, but you have to listen for a while through bad songs to find a few that you can stand. No thanks!
Well, it's back, in a sense... you can find 96wave in an online form at 96wave.com, completely commercial-free. I'll bet it shows up on HD Radio soon as 96.1-2.
What the ****? I grew up on 96 Wave and it's one of the few excuses I still use to drive 1200 miles to go back home...until now. When I dropped off 95 South to 26 I hit the 96.1 on the radio...nada...no problem - I'll get closer to Downtown...then when I heard what came across the radio, I damn near puked...
You have your facts half correct. Yes, Wave is nothing but a "grab bag of crap". However, before you post "crap" statements about Dave Rossi, you should be a little more educated. Rossi has not been with the station for months and would never have agreed to the direction the station has chosen. I understand your anger, but maybe you should unplug your iPod and pay attention before you start placing blame.

Hey, I'm as upset as anyone. If you want to voice your opinion then the following numbers may help. (These people made the decision.)
Chris Johnson - General Manager
843-972-1105
John Hakim - WAVF Sales Manager
843-972-1149
Apex
843-972-1100
Call often and let them know how you feel.

There simply are not enough words...
Maybe hell is frozen after all...
